Sail from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
THE SHEARWATER:Built in 1929, the vintage 48-passenger Shearwater sailing yacht is ashining example of the style and elegance of the Great Gatsby-Era"Roaring 20s". Shearwater patrolled the North Atlantic for submarinesduring WWII, circumnavigated the globe in the late 70s and early80s and once more graces NY waters after an absence of over 50 years.
THE ITINERARY: Shearwater guests sail quietly past the Statue of Liberty, the Bridges and historic sites of New YorkHarbor and the fantastic skyline while enjoying the tranquility andwind-powered elegance of a historic ocean cruiser. The captain will beable to give us a brief introduction to sailing AND you will be able toparticipate during the sail, by hoisting sails, navigating and more! Or if you prefer to chill, the yachts large teak decks offer extensive seating and relaxing areas.
COST: $48 if received by 8/9 (this includes paypal fee and a tip for the crew). After 8/9: $55
NOTE: We are holding 35 out of 48 spots on the boat and we will try to keep a balance with the m/f ratio :)

YACHT LOCATION: North Cove Yacht Harbor & Marina at the World Financial Center Battery Park City Esplanade (directly in front of the Winter Garden). http://www.shearwatersailing.com/directions.html
By Subway: E to World Trade Center. R/W to Rector St. 2/3/4/5/A/C to Fulton St/Broadway-Nassau St. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the yacht.
By Foot: Go west on Vesey or Liberty Streets crossing West Street (West SideHighway) via footbridge. Enter marina from the North or South. Go toSouth Side of Marina.
By Taxi/Car: Take the West Side Hwy to World Financial Center/Battery Park City.Go West on Liberty Street and go all the way to the end. This is asclose to the marina as vehicles can go. Get out at South End Avenue.Walk down ramp to North Cove Marina.
Parking: Take a left turn on South End Avenue, go 1/4 block and make a right into Gateway Parking just before the Chase Bank.
BOARDING: They board 15 min prior to departure and ask that you arrive at the dock at 1:15 pm. The boat will not wait for stragglers. You will have to swim to meet us if you are late.
WHAT TO WEAR:Wear only soft soled shoes such as sneakers, deck shoes, flip-flops orsandals. Heels can scuff the deck. Bare feet are also fine.
The temperature can be cooler out on the water so dress accordingly. Light skirts and wind do not always mix.
FOOD & DRINKS: They do have a cash bar on board (Beer, soda and water).
You may bring food aboard for your sail. Stay away from red sauces, potato chips or anything else that could stain the deck.
