Description

On Sunday, Nov 25, JOC is going paintballing - yee haw!
Its been a while since JOC has done the outdoor paintball thing. Its always tons of fun. I hope you can join!

Here are the details:

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
We are headed to Ring Homestead, in Middletown, NY, about 75 minutes
from the GWB. It is my favorite place, and I have a great relationship with the owner, who always treats our group like gold.
They have great fields, including speedball, a castle, a hostage rescue field with a bus, and more.  This is about the 5th time the JOC has gone there, and past attendees will tell you that its top notch.

WHAT DOES IT COST?
The cost is $35 via paypal.
This includes high quality semi-automatic paint marker (for renters), all day CO 2 /Compressed air fill (i.e., FREE AIR!), admission,
goggles and mask system.
If you have your own equipment, it is $25.
This does not include paintballs!! Paintballs are $65 for a case of 2000, and you pay for it there, directly to the place. Expect to use between 500-1000 paintballs for the day depending on how trigger happy you are, and how badly you play :)

WAIT A SECOND - WHAT IS PAINTBALL?
For newcomers, paintball is a sport involving two teams that play
against each other, each person using a paintball markers to shoot members
of the opposing team, in reaching your objective (capture the flag, kill the
general, total elimination, etc...). In a given day, well play around 10-14
games.

DO PAINTBALLS HURT?
Yes and No. Generally, youll feel a sting, as if you were snapped at by
a towel. Sometimes, they hurt less, sometimes more, like if they dont
explode on you, or if shot from close range. Either way, you will come away
with nickel sized welts that look like hickeys, but the pain rarely last more than a few moments.
Plus your friends will think its a hickey and think youre real cool.

HOW INTENSE IS THE PLAY?
Certainly, some players will be more experienced than others, but our general game is a fun, recreational one, not like one of those hardcore military groups that come with bazookas and stuff.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Send me an email with the following info:

HOW MUCH SPACE IS THERE?
I will take up to 25 people, and no more. First come (paid), first served.

HOW DOES TRANSPORTATION WORK?
Ill send out a spreadsheet with participants and drivers. You will be
responsible to contact drivers to catch a ride. I will make sure to have a workable ratio of drivers to passengers.

WHAT TIME WILL WE START?
I plan to get there by 9 am, and Ill play small speedball games with
whoever is with me. It makes sense to get there early, since they close at 4pm.
But you can come whenever you want, I suppose.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Clothing you dont mind getting dirty, covering skin below the face.
Bring paper towels, anti fog spray, and glass cleaner (they suggest not
using windex, though - it weakens the lens.) Also, Lunch, money, fun attitude :)
.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
    You get wet.

WHAT IF YOU CHEAT?
You suck, and we will all, even your own teammates, shoot you in the
back, as we did a few years back to a flagrant cheater. No joke.

WHAT IF I CANCEL?
Full refunds issued until Wed, Nov 21

ANYTHING ELSE?
    Nope! Hope you can join!
:)
