After a hugely successful quickly sold-out waterskiing event last Sunday, a number of people were very upset they could not join. The rectification? Another trip!!! We'll take two boats this time, but there are still only 11 slots total...

 

What makes the recent oppressive heat and humidity worthwhile? If anything, it's got to be the chance to waterski with the JOC! Waterskiing is one of the most exhilarating ways to get wet.

 

But I've never waterskied before, or I want to get better: We will be taught by Steve Halperin, the only licensed and certified ski instructor for over 200 square miles, or one of his very experienced cronies. Steve is quite a character (with some interesting household decorations) and an excellent teacher. When we went waterskiing with Steve two years ago, 86% of us were able to get up and stay up. We also had an absolute blast.

 

Plan: Leave NYC on Sun Sep 13th around 7am, arrive at Lakeview Marina http://www.lakeviewmarina.com/, ski 8:30-11, head home to enjoy the rest of your Sunday. (If this is too early for you, even though the water is much better early morning, then you don't want it bad enough.)

 

Bring:

- Bathing suit

- Change of clothes

- Breakfast and snacks

- Sunscreen

- Water (at least 2 liters)

- Exact change for driver reimbursement

- Camera (optional - bring at your own risk - we'll be appreciative of another good photographer like Eric on this week's trip)

- Hat and sunglasses (optional)

- Sense of adventure (not optional)

 

Cost: ONLY $69 (plus $10 to reimburse your driver if you need a ride). This includes equipment, boat ride, expert instruction, and tons of fun. Bring your own food - I knocked the price down for that.

 

Refund Policy: Full refund for cancellation will be granted until Monday Sep 7. After that, it will be your responsibility to find someone to claim your spot and to exchange funds directly.

 

The organizer retains the right to cancel the trip for any reason (no drivers, blizzard, etc) and will grant a full refund in that case.
