Description
JOC Hiking & Chocolates!! Nov 6th (Sun)
JOC Hiking at the “Ward Pound Ridge Reservation-Leatherman's Cave” followed by the “Chocolate World Expo”!! Nov 6th (Sunday)
Enjoy the hills of the Westchester County Park, reaching a panoramic lookout over the Cross River Reservoir, and climbing to the fascinating Leatherman’s Cave & Spy rock. Join us afterwards at the “Chocolate World Expo” on the way back to the city!
Organizers: Chaim Spear & Moshe W
Schedule: (Meet Up @ 9:50am)
Don't let the early time scare you. Keep in mind we are changing the clocks back overnight 1 hour in our favor! We will meet in the parking lot at 9:50am to sign in and we hit the trails @ 10am sharp. We are about 75 min from Manhattan. Give yourselves some extra time in case you get stuck in traffic. The hike should take about 4-5 hours. We will head out afterwards to the Chocolate World Expo which is about a half an hour away (it’s not out of the way). You should be back in the city by around 7:30PM give or take (depending on traffic).
Level: Moderate (6 miles with some elevation, approx
4-5 hours)

Packing List:
Jacket/layers (depending on the weather), min 3 liters of water, lunch/snacks, hiking boots (or sneakers with good support for hiking), comfortable clothing that can get dirty, sun tan lotion, bug spray, 3 dollar JOC fee (please try to bring exact change), and 15 dollars to reimburse your driver (if you are a rider), camera, binoculars, and a fun attitude! Please keep in mind that if you don't adequately prepare enough water or if you don't have proper foot-ware we may have to turn you away for your own safety.

Chocolate World Expo will take place on Sunday, November 6th, 11am-6pm, at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY, at Route 119 and the Bronx River Parkway. Chocolate World Expo will feature tastings and sales from over 65 vendors of chocolates, baked goods, specialty foods and much more. While it is not a kosher show per se, some vendors do have widely-accepted heckshers including 5th Avenue Chocolatiere, Fretzels by Jill, Rogue Confections, Rescue Chocolate, Screme Gelato, Rademaker (at Dorval booth), Camille Bloch (at Dorval booth), Dove Discoveries and Pickle Licious. There will be additional products with kosher certifications that are not quite as widely accepted or even that have a lower acceptance level in the Orthodox community. Some raw products and kitchen accessories might not require any certification, so be sure to "check with your local Rabbi" regarding kashruth questions. Complete information about each vendor and certification can be found at http://www.chocolateworldexpo.com/vendors.html.
