Description

Have you been missing the snow this mild winter? Love nature and the outdoors? Looking for that adrenaline rush?

Then you should definitely join the JOC as we go SNOWMOBILING!!!!!

JOC will take you on a mini getaway to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings (think mountains, forests, possibly deer) in the Adirondacks. Now imagine enjoying that nature while riding with a friend on a powerful machine!

Do we have you hooked? Read on for the details of the trip!

Who?

Avi Golden and Sarah Gerber-Korman  (both seasoned JOC event planners) are organizing this event for YOU!!!

When?

Saturday night, Feb. 11 through Sunday night, Feb. 12

Where?

In the beautiful Adirondack Mountains (approx. 5+ hours driving time from NYC)

How Do I Get There?

As drivers sign up we will send out driver information, including where they are leaving from and how many passengers they have room for. It will be your responsibility to contact the drivers and arrange a pickup time and location. (You will be expected to reimburse your driver $25 to contribute toward gas, tolls, and wear and tear on the car.)

What’s the Game Plan?

We leave Saturday night, right after Shabbat and meet at a motel about halfway. We continue the drive Sunday morning and enjoy a day of snowmobiling. About 5pm we leave the mountains to head back to the city (approx arrival time back at NYC between 10-11pm). See that? A mini getaway, a day of adventure, all without even having to take a day off from work!!!

How much will this awesome trip cost?

Early bird special: Register by 5 pm on Sunday, Feb. 5 and this adventure is yours for only $150. After the early bird deadline, price increases to $175. This price includes riding double on a snowmobile (Don’t worry if you don’t have a friend to come with; we will pair you up with another participant.), helmet rental, $40 worth of fuel per machine, and taxes. Riding single will cost an additional $75, depending on availability of snowmobiles on the day of the event.

Motel will cost $25-50 p/p for the night (based on double occupancy)

(If enough drivers want to drive straight through on Sunday morning, we may add that as an option as well, thus saving the cost of the motel)

You will be expected to reimburse your driver $25 to contribute towards gas, tolls and wear & tear on the car.

What should I wear/bring?

Prepare to be out in the cold snow all day. Wear your best (waterproof or water resistant) winter jacket, hat and gloves. It is advisable to wear ski pants (even if it’s under a skirt) and boots. Bring a change of (dry) clothing and shoes for the long ride back home.

Bring food! You will need food/snacks/drinks for Saturday night, Sunday breakfast and lunch/snacks/drink plus food/snacks/drink for the ride back home.

If you’ve ever spent a day out in the snow, you know you’ll be hungry afterwards, so plan accordingly.

What if I’ve never done this before?

Don’t worry! No experience necessary. If you’re reasonably fit and not afraid of the snow, you’ll be fine.
