- When:
- Sun, Aug 09, 2009
- Category:
- Special
Description
*Do you enjoy nature, sunsets and long walks on the beach?
*Did you ever sleep right ON the beach?
*Wanna see wild horses is their natural habitat?
Then this is the trip for YOU!
4 Days, 3 Nights of camping
On the shores of Assateague Island National Wildlife Preserve,
famous for its wild horses that roam the island freely.
No, we can’t touch them or feed them, but we will take a sightseeing cruise around the island to observe them in their natural habitats—roaming in herds, bathing in the ocean… it’ll be really cool!
Our schedule of events:
MONDAY, August 10: Arrival, Tent Set Up
-BBQ Dinner
-Historic Night Beach Hike and Lantern Tour of the Coast Guard Museum
TUESDAY, August 11: Explore the Islands
-Guided Kayak Tour of Chinquateague Island with wildlife visits (including wild horses)
-Sightseeing Cruise (last year we saw dolphins and gorgeous sunsets!)
WEDNESDAY, August 12: Outdoors Fun
-Parasailing in the Atlantic Ocean
-Visit Ocean City Board Walk (Who knew this exists outside NYC?!!)
-Bonfire :) (Yay, fire!)
THURSDAY, August 13: Homeward Bound with scenic detour
-Pack up and then RELAX aboard the ferry ride landing in Cape May, NJ
-Explore the Victorian Mansions, Light House, and other picturesque spots in this beach front town
***All food for this trip is provided, but there will be no white glove service. This is a pretty rugged trip, so be prepared to roll up your sleeves, help pitch tents, and take a turn setting up 1-2 meals during the 4 days.
***Bathrooms & showers with running water are available at the campsite, but no electricity.
If you are interested in taking part in JOC's Assateague Adventure, go to http://www.assateague.eventbrite.com to fill out the form.
At the end of the week, further details will be sent to you including payment information and how to secure your spot, so be sure to type your email address correctly!
