Join the JOC Mount Minsi Hike!! September 18th
Join the Jewish Outdoors Club as we go hiking on Mount Minsi !!

Mt. Minsi Profile:
Summary: The best view of NJ's Mt. Tammany is actually from Mt. Minsi,
on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap - the break in the
Kittatinny Mountains that was carved by the Delaware River. The views
are wonderful of Mt. Tammany and the Delaware River from this short,
steep route to the top. This is a popular route and you will not be
alone.
5.1 miles roundtrip. Moderate. Uphill, couple steep rocky areas; a
rock hop over a small stream. The return trip is more gradual, on a
woods road. This route continues past the top view to along the AT a
bit.

SCHEDULE:
We will meet in the parking lot at 11:00 am to sign in and we hit the
trails shortly afterwards. We are about 95 min from the city. Give
yourselves some extra time
in case you get stuck in traffic. The hike should take about 4 hours.
DIRECTIONS:

take the NJ turnpike (or possibly rt 1/9) to the
280 West and then to ]
Interstate 80 west over the river
(Toll) Stay to the right after the toll and take PA Exit 310.
Follow signs to Route 611 south.
Turn right at the light at the end of the ramp;
Turn left at the next light in the village, and turn right 300 yards
later at the
Deerhead Inn onto Mountain Road.
Take the next left into the trailhead parking area.
Difficulty: 5.5 out of 10
How much does it cost?
There's a three dollars JOC fee to cover our expenses (please bring exact
change)
How do I sign up?

(Priority will be given to drivers who can take other passengers with them.)
Please note that the driver's and passengers numbers will be shared
with everyone
else who signs up for the hike so that the drivers can be contacted by
people needing a ride and vice versa.
Packing List:
3 liters of Water!!
Lunch, snacks, sun tan lotion, bug spray, sneakers with good support
for walking/hiking, comfortable hiking clothing that can get dirty,
3 dollar JOC fee (please try to bring exact
change), and 15 dollars to
reimburse your driver (if you are a passenger ), camera, binoculars, and a
fun attitude!
The organizers reserve the right to turn away anyone who shows up
unprepared for this hike. This includes having an inadequate amount of
water or improper footwear.
