Description
JOC's First Ever "MIDNIGHT WINTER HIKE"!! Dec 17th (Motzei Shabbat)
Are you a night owl? Can't hit the sack too early on a Saturday night?! Come join the Jewish Outdoors Club on our very first "Midnight Winter Hike" at Stokes States Forest. The hike will be around 3-4 miles in full Night & Winter Gear! (in addition to your regular hiking gear). Given the darkness, we will move @ an easy to moderate pace. However, this hike is NOT recommended for beginners or for those of us afraid of the dark. The plan is to meet at the designated parking area @ 9PM and return by MIDNIGHT!
Organizers:
Marvin Baum & Moshe Wolcowitz
Schedule:
We meet on Motzei Shabbat Dec 17th at 8:45PM in our designated parking area in the Stokes State Forest and hit the trails @ 9PM sharp. Given the late hour we won't be able to hold back the group if you're not on time and given the darkness it would be dangerous for you to go on your own in the dark to try to catch up. That said, MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON TIME! The forest is about a 90 minute drive from the city. Give yourself some extra time in case you get lost or stuck in traffic. We expect to wrap up the hike @ midnight and you should be back in the city by 1:30-2AM depending on traffic.
Ride Share:
We will send out a spreadsheet as soon as we close registration with a list of drivers and their contact details. Passengers are expected to each reimburse their driver $15 for gas, tolls, and wear & tear…
Cost:
$7 JOC Fee to cover our expenses and light snacks
Packing List: (Besides a camera all items are MANDATORY)
Bring flashlights, winter coats (it can get really cold at night), extra layers as needed, 2 liters of water (it's important to hydrate even in the cold), snacks, comfortable clothing that can get dirty, good hiking shoes, and a camera (optional).
