Description
JOC SNOWTUBING PARTY!
Sunday, Feb 19 5-8pm
The
twelfth
annual JOC snowtubing party will take place on Sunday evening, February
19 from 5-8 pm, at the new Woodbury Ski Area, in Connecticut. This is
one of our biggest events each year with over 75 fun loving people
attending!!
YEEHAW!!!!!!
WHY WOODBURY?
This
will be our third year at Woodbury. In brief, this is the THE best place
to go tubing in the Northeast. The runs range from easy trips down
to runs that were so wild you will not believe it is legal.
This is a real
Snowtubing park with a total of ten lanes, with single tubes and group
tubes for use. Some of the lanes are very advanced with high speed steep
slopes along with bumps and turns. Others are beginner trails. Bottom
line -- this ain't no ski resort afterthought -- This park was designed for fun in the snow!
Plus,
Woodbury is a small family run operation and they actually let you have
fun, as opposed to the mega resorts that are super anal about
everything. Boo Yeah!!!
HOW MANY WILL ATTEND?
This is always one of JOC's biggest and most fun events of the year and last year's trip sold out at 75 attendees. Whether you
are new and have been lurking on the list for a long time, or have been a regular for a while, don't miss out on this fun event!
are new and have been lurking on the list for a long time, or have been a regular for a while, don't miss out on this fun event!
Throughout
the
night, we will be able to relax in their lodge which is right next to
the tubing run, where there will be snacks provided. All food, is, of
course, Kosher.
The event will take place from 5 pm to 8pm.
If you wish, you can head there earlier and ski or board at the mountain.
PRICE?
The
rate
is $39, which includes snowtubing and light snack food that we are
providing (pita, spreads, chips, fruits and veges...). If you were to do
this on your own, the tubing alone would cost you that much.
Please note that the JOC is a 501c(7) not for profit and we do not make any profit on this trip.
The session is a 3 hour session! This
gives you plenty of time to tube the 10 runs, and socialize at the
park, or in the lodge, where we have a reserved space. Since the next
day is President's Day, hang out with us late and enjoy the evening!
TRANSPORTATION
We
will
be getting there via carpool. A week prior, I will send out a
spreadsheet of drivers, and you will be responsible to make arrangement
to get to Woodbury. The drive is about an hour from my home in
westchester, a bit more from the city. We recommend reimbursing your
driver $12 per person.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Layer up with a shirt (synthetic is best), a sweater (fleece) and a warm jacket. If
you
have ski pants, that's your best bet for your lower half. Non-cotton
socks are best for your feet, and don't forget gloves, and a warm hat. A
neck gaiter is a nice plus. Skirts are doable.
If you have reason to believe that I, or other mischievous folk, will be tripping you from behind with tubes, then wear butt pads :)
IS THIS FOR SINGLES ONLY?
No! JOC is an outdoors club open to all, although, a large majority of attendees will be single.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?
The deadline for signing up is Sunday, Feb 12. However, last year's trip sold out before the deadline.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Please go to www.jocsnowtubing2012.eventbrite.com and fill out the form. You will see how to pay on that website. There is a small fee incurred by Eventbrite to process your credit card. Sorry, but we cannot accept personal check.
CANCELLATION POLICY?
Cancellations will be accepted up to the Sunday prior (Feb 12) for a full refund. After that, I cannot offer a refund, no exceptions.
If you can find someone else to take your place you can deal with the reimbursement on your own with that person.
BAD WEATHER?
Please note that in the event of inclement weather, the trip will be postponed. If you cannot make the new date, a full refund will be given. Please note that Woodbury regularly makes snow when mother nature doesn't cooperate.
I HEARD A RUMOR THAT THE LAST RUN IS NAKED. IS THIS TRUE?
Well, not exactly. But it is a JOC tradition to do the last run very minimally dressed. This is, of course, optional :)

Yeah baby!!!
Hope to see you there!
