Description
George Washington Bridge Hike
This Sunday (11/08/09) join the JOC for a fantastically scenic hike across the George Washington Bridge and along the Palisades Park hiking trails as we enjoy some of the most breathtaking views New York has to offer. Best of all, this urban/nature adventure hike starts and ends in NYC. If you have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fun and relatively easy hike, this is it!! Here are the details:
Where is everyone meeting?
We will meet at 10:30 this Sunday morning in front of the George Washington Bridge Bus Station facing the GWB at the corner of Fort Washington Ave. and 178th St. in Washington Heights.
How do I get there?
You can reach the GWB bus station using the NYC subway A train, which stops at the 175th St. station. (www.mta.info)
How long will the hike take? How hard is the hike?
The hike will take about 3 hours and we will cover less than four miles. It is a relatively easy hike, but there will be some stair climbing involved.
What should I bring?
Bring plenty of energy and enthusiasm along with some good walking shoes, a liter of water, a camera, and a lunch or snacks you can enjoy when we take a break at the Ross Dock Picnic Area in NJ to savior the views of the NYC skyline.
What if it rains?
As long as there is no lighting the hike will continue for those who believe that they will not melt and that hiking in the rain is as much fun as a hike on a sunny day. In the event of rain, rain gear and/or water guns are recommended. :)
How do I sign-up for this event?
Send your full name and cell phone number to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it before Sunday. The event will be limited to the first 45 people who sign-up. After you sign-up a confirmation email with further details will be sent to you before the event.
How much does it cost, and how can I pay?
There is a $3 JOC administration fee that can be paid in cash on the day of the event.
What if I have any GWB hike related questions?
Feel free to send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Cheers,
Nathan
